“IF YOU THINK ADVENTURE IS DANGEROUS, TRY ROUTINE, IT IS LETHAL.”

As an office worker, every day my biggest adventure is cycling to and from work. But in life, everyone wants to experience more fun and cool things, me too. My way is to watch some adventure videos, such as rowing across oceans or walking across deserts. I hope my life can be as cool as the video, and yes, I know, it's impossible, I can't afford a project as big and daunting as that.

But the spirit of these adventurers also inspired me and encouraged me to do some 'mundane' adventure. Adventure can be found anywhere. Here I collected a guide to micro-adventures, let’s talk about how to exploration near home.

1. TAKE A TRANSPORT FOR AN URBAN ADVENTURE

Do you know the city you are living in now? Except for our house, our company, parks, supermarkets, and restaurants, what other interesting places do you know and visit? Every day these streets we drove by in a hurry, hiding the scenery and stories we didn’t understand. Let’s begin the adventure from here.

Take this self-guided trail, tram, trolley, train, and walking adventure with our friends or family, these public transportations that can land you in a park or other green space or anywhere you want to go. It was a totally new way to see the city we live in.

2. HIKING IN THE NATIONAL PARK

No need to go hiking in the desert. From Alaska’s remote bush to downtown Cleveland, our national parks provide us with millions of acres of public land for our micro-adventures.

Big bend in Texas, Congaree in South Carolina, Glacier Bay in Alaska, Joshua Tree in California, North Cascades in Washington... in it you can enjoy epic views and impressive hiking adventure.

3. CAMPING IN THE BACKYARD

When you have no time to go out or have to stay at home, but your kids keep begging for an adventure trip, look no further than a few steps out the back door and try a backyard camping.

With a backyard camping, you can give your kids the experience of sleeping out under the stars, but also enjoy the convenience, such as making food in your own kitchen, use the restroom, enjoy running water...All you have to do is set up a tent and lay down air mattresses and sleeping bags to get one started.

4. GO FISHING

If you can find a river where you can fish, you may wish to include fishing in your adventure. Whether you join the fishing club or go fishing with your kids for the first time, it will bring you unlimited fun. You will remember your first catch forever.

5. LATE NIGHT BIKE RIDE

Although the paths are the same ones during the daylight, it looks very different at night. The darkness makes everything feel a lot more challenging.

The lights create a narrow tunnel vision that makes you feel like you’re flying down the trails at lightning speed… Nothing is more exciting than fresh air, muddy bicycles, and dark nights in the woods.

6. GO FOR A PADDLEBOARDING

As summer approaches, water sports become more and more popular. Let's consider family paddleboarding as an adventure experience and perfect family activity this summer!

It’s an easy way to get away from screens and into nature, and a great introduction to water sports in a safe and controlled environment. Best of all, it’s a fun way for us to stay active and adventure without feeling like we’re “working out.”
